Great magazine covers are a cultural moment distilled to its essence. Even for fashion magazines it is tempting to use a historic event like the current corona crisis to create impact but mistakes are easily made (see this recent cover of Vogue Portugal<\/a>) and there is a risk of being accused of woke washing<\/a>. Fortunately some fashion magazines do understand how to\u00a0handle the crisis: be\u00a0relevant and respectful.<\/em><\/p>\n Lees ook\u00a0:\u00a0Marketing in tijden van corona: wat (niet) te doen?<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n Grazia\u00a0Magazine in the UK has paid tribute to\u00a0NHS\u00a0staff (National Health Service) serving on the frontline of the\u00a0coronavirus\u00a0outbreak with a dedicated special issue celebrating health workers. Even better: digital\u00a0downloads of the landmark edition are being made freely available to all NHS workers.<\/p>\n In regular times, U.K. weekly fashion magazine Grazia\u00a0is likely to feature celebrities of the caliber of\u00a0Meghan Markle, Gwyneth Paltrow or Kate Moss on its front cover. However, the April 6 issue is a little different: it features four different covers, all featuring a different frontline female healthcare workers. The cover stars include an intensive care doctor, a nurse and a paramedic, as well as U.K. Member of Parliament\u00a0Rosena Allin-Khan, who is also an emergency room doctor. They all feature\u00a0the copy “From the Frontline.” Their stories can be read\u00a0inside the magazine<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cThe great covers [\u2026are] most of all, a cultural moment [..] distilled to its essence.\u201d<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n Featuring four split covers each displaying a different member of staff the magazine was diligently put together by staff working from home<\/strong><\/a> with photographers obeying social distancing<\/a> guidelines by capturing their subjects in hospital car parks at the required distance.<\/p>\n
